Chandigarh, also called The City Beautiful, is a city in India that
serves as the capital of two states: Punjab and Haryana. However, administratively, the
city is not under the jurisdiction of either state, but is instead administered by the
Centre government and hence classified as a Union Territory. Chandigarh has two satellite
cities (both of which share a border with it): Panchkula and Mohali. These three cities
are also collectively known as the Chandigarh Tricity.
The Chandigarh Technology Park (CTP) provides world class integrated infrastructure necessary for the setting up of facilities and campuses by leading technology companies and other IT / ITES / BPO companies for the first time in this region. Chandigarh's infrastructure, proximity to Delhi, Punjab and Haryana, and the IT talent pool is the key to attracting and retaining IT focused businesses looking for office space in the area. Many major Indian firms and multinational corporations have offices in the park.
Chandigarh is fast becoming one of the most preferred destinations for
technology companies, in the country, especially since it boasts of an
excellent quality of life, and huge base of Human Resources and proactive
policies of the Administration which are conducive to such investment.
Some of the most popular features of Chandigarh include the Rock Garden of
Chandigarh, the Rose Garden, Sukhna Lake, and The Government Museum and
Art Gallery which houses art, sculpture and textiles from India's past as
well as contemporary items and a natural history section.
Aside from the traditional religious observances and national holidays, Chandigarh
citizens celebrate several festivals that are uniquely their own
including The Festival of Gardens and The Mango Festival.
